Short Bio
Multi-genre flutist, educator, and author, Delandria Mills is a native of Houston, Texas. Mills is a graduate of Houston's High School for the Performing & Visual Arts, Prairie View A&M University, and earned both her Masters in Classical Flute and Graduate Performance Diploma in Jazz Studies from the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore where she now teaches in the Preparatory Department. Delandria is the founder of Kingdom Flute Works (KFW), her annual intensive summer program. In addition to KFW and the Peabody Institute, Delandria teaches for Baltimore City Public Schools and is associate flute professor at Morgan State University.

Since 2021 Mills has been a core member in the flute section of the Maryland Winds (a professional concert band), Robert Glasper's Black Radio Orchestra, and Derrick Hodge's Color of Noize Orchestra.
Delandria has performed, recorded and toured with many artists including: Fertile Ground, Mary Mary, Tye Tribbett, Angelique Kidjo, Israel New Breed, Roy Hargrove, Billy Harper, and Hubert Laws. She has won national, as well as international, competitions and has nine recordings of her own. Mills is the author of a series of picture books for young children and a juvenile fiction novel series: Demi’s Flute: Discovering Notes and Sounds (picture books for young readers), and a young adult fiction novel series entitled Demi’s Flute: Entering the Realm of Sound.

Mills is a Powell Flutes artist and a board member of the National Flute Association.
